Engage Customers with a Real 1-to-1 Message

Play E-20
Sample postcard campaign from University of Illinois EMBA program
Best Used For…
Delivering a highly personalized postcard to Customers, Prospects, Inactive Customers. Even if all you need is one postcard, this is THE best way to do it and look like a million bucks. And if you really want to stand out, use them as Thank You cards, as I do.

Strategy

Create a series of standardized thank you postcards that can be easily addressed through AmazingMail’s online personalization system. This system allows you to send beautiful, full color, laminated, personalized postcards directly to your recipient through the US mail.

Assignments

Administrator/Personal Assistant:

Creates an online account and purchase a prepaid block of postcards. You have a choice of 4"x6" or 6"x9" or 5.5"x11.5" (Jumbo) sized cards. Your address book (Outlook, for example) can be easily uploaded, too, which is a real time-saver to say the least.

Copywriter:

Develops appropriate messages to recipients depending on type of contact (prospect or customer), venue/when meeting took place (seminar, tradeshow, meeting, presentation, web demo), and expected next steps (I’ll phone, write, see you...). Since AmazingMail really shines at deliverying personalized postcards, be your own copywriter and type in your own custom message to the recipient. It’s just about as easy as typing an e-mail and it has 10X the impact.

Marketing Team/Ad Agency:

Creates a series of images for the front of the card, along with the copy for the back side (from the copywriter) and your logo and uploads these into the AmazingMail system.

Sender (You):

Log into AmazingMail, create a postcard from your gallery (previously uploaded), address each by entering the recipient’s address or by selecting from your address book (previously stored).

Coaching Points

  • Use graphics from your company’s brochures or web site to reinforce your brand.
  • Create different versions of your card to give the appearance of a custom message if you’re uploading images for the front and back, or better yet, use AmazingMail’s textbox feature, which gives you the ability to set up mail merge fields in your postcard.
  • It takes 5-7 days for postcard production and for mailing time, so send the cards immediately following your meeting. Waiting a few days to send your thank you card will lose the intended impact.
  • For road warriors: you can easily send these in the evening from your hotel room. I should know. I do.

Costs

  • $0.80-$1.40 per card, which includes printing, online storage of your files, address book and transaction history, postage, and2
  • delivery to post office.
  • Creative and copywriting costs vary upon what materials you may or may not already have in your arsenal.
